THE Health Ministry reported 23 new Covid-19 clusters today with the workplace and community categories accounting for eight clusters each.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were also six clusters that sprung from religious activities, of which two were linked to the festive season.
The eight workplace clusters on the list today were
1. Jalan Teknokrat Lima in Sepang Selangor – nine cases
2. Persiaran Tiga Selayang Gombak and Hulu Selangor – eight cases
3. Bukit Permai Utama Tiga in Hulu Langat and Sepang, Selangor – 21 cases
4. Jalan Industri Berlian in Pontian and Kulai, Johor – 15 cases
5. Jalan Istimewa Satu in Johor Baru, Johor – 15 cases
6. Industri Jalan Lapan in Kota Baru, Bachok, Tumpat, Machang and Pasir Mas, Kelantan – 46 cases
7. Jalan Klinik Pasir Puteh in Pasir Puteh and Bachok, Kelantan – 15 cases
8. Industri Batu 16 Bemban in Jasin, Malacca – 34 cases
These clusters were detected at factories and a public institution.
Meanwhile, the eight clusters that stemmed from community transmission were
1. Site BC Sekinchan in Sabak Bernam, Selangor – 45 cases
2. Sg Sian in Maradong, Sarawak – 22 cases
3. Jalan Damai Tangkak in Tangkak, Johor – 20 cases
4. Dah Kedawang in Langkawi, Kedah – 34 cases
5. Paya Terbakar in Seberang Perai Utara, Penang – 22 cases
6. Kg Baru Bentong in Bentong, Pahang – 27 cases
7. Kg Matang in Hulu Terengganu, Terengganu – 52 cases
8. Simpang Si in Labuan – seven cases
The Paya Terbakar and Simpang Sg clusters were linked to a funeral ceremony.
Completing the list today was the Jalan Ng Song Teik education cluster that saw 13 cases.
Noor Hisham also said that there are currently 630 active clusters of infection in the country. – May 29, 2021.
