THE Health Ministry reported 21 new Covid-19 clusters today with six each involving workplaces and community clusters.
There were also four religious activity clusters, indicating that standard operating procedures are not being strictly followed.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the workplace clusters, the one contributing the highest number of cases with 81 infections was the Jalan Hospital Tampoi cluster in Johor.
Other workplaces on the list today were:
- Jalan Satu Olak in Petaling and Kuala Langat, Selangor – 14 cases
- Perusahaan Satu Batu Cave in Gombak, Selangor – 10 cases
- Kemumin in Kota Bharu and Bachok, Kelantan – 29 cases
- Wangsa Perdana Construction Site in Titiwangsa – 27 cases
- Perusahaan Valdor in Seberang Perai Tengah Selatan, Penang – 71 cases
These clusters were detected at factories, a public institution and a construction site.
Health authorities also reported six clusters which stemmed from community transmissions. They are:
- Persiaran Sepang Sebelas in Sepang, Selangor – 39 cases
- Kampung Chekok in Machang, Kelantan – 11 cases
- Kampung Tellar in Pasir Mas, Kelantan – 12 cases
- Dah Emas Suria in Langkawi and Kuala Muda, Kedah – 37 cases
- Jalan Padi in Jelebu and Tampin in Negri Sembilan – 30 cases
- Tanjung Kepah in Manjung, Perak – 27 cases
The Dah Emas Suria cluster emerged following visiting activities.
The four clusters linked to religious activities are Kampung Chubadak (23 cases) in Kepong, Seksyen Dua (11 cases) in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Kampung Bukit (15 cases) in Barat Daya, Penang, and Jalan Seroja Kepis (59 cases) in Jempol and Kuala Pilah, Negri Sembilan.
Also on the list today were three education clusters, another linked to high-risk groups and one more linked to a detention centre.
Altogether there are currently 614 active clusters of infection in the country. – May 28, 2021.
