THE police today took a statement from former Prasarana Malaysia chairman Tajuddin Abdul Rahman for breaching Covid-19 standard operating procedure by not wearing a facemask during a press conference.

Tajuddin arrived at Dang Wangi police headquarters at 4.45pm and left about an hour later without talking to the reporters.

Yesterday, Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said Tajuddin was being investigated under section 21A of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and rule 17 (1) the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021, after he held a press conference on Tuesday regarding the LRT crash the previous night.

The Pasir Salak MP did not wear a face mask during the press conference but did wear a face shield.

Yesterday, Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz summarily dismissed Tajuddin as chairman of Prasarana following strong public criticism over his callous attitude during the press conference.

Tajuddin was appointed to the role in May last year as soon as the Perikatan Nasional government came to power. – May 27, 2021.

  • When will the police stop this sickening charade and just slap him with a fine? When will the double standards stop? I am sure the police have more important work to do with crime and drugs
