MALAYSIA reported its second highest number of Covid-19 fatalities in a single day after 60 people succumbed to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
This comes after a record-breaking 61 deaths were reported yesterday. The fatalities raise the death toll to 2,369.
The country also saw yet another record high number of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions with 726 patients currently under critical care.
A total of 373 patients require respiratory support while active cases climbed to 63,458 from yesterday’s 60,018.
There were four brought in dead cases today, out of which three were senior citizens aged above 80.
The oldest, among the deceased, was a 93-year-old woman who was brought in dead to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Meanwhile, the youngest person on the list to succumb to Covid-19 was a three-year-old girl who died at the Likas Women and Children Hospital in Sabah. The deceased also suffered from leukemia.
Selangor reported the highest number of fatalities with 15 cases, followed by Johor with 10 cases. – May 25, 2021.
