MALAYSIA today recorded the highest number of admissions to intensive care units (ICU) with 531 new cases in the past 24 hours, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
Today’s figure beat the 522 admitted to ICU yesterday, and reflects the continuing spike in new infections and the more rapid deterioration of patients to the more advanced stages of Covid-19.
Noor Hisham said that those currently requiring respiratory support had also increased by five to 277.
The country today reported 4,865 new cases, and 47 deaths, the highest number of Covid-19 fatalities ever for Malaysia.
There were also 3,497 recoveries today, bringing the total to 432,600.
