MALAYSIA continued to see an alarming upsurge in Covid-19 cases today, recording 4,855 new infections in the past 24 hours.
Today’s total is also the fourth-highest since the start of the pandemic.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases brought the national caseload to 458,077.
Selangor continued to lead the daily tally with 1,783 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (521) and Johor (467).
Only three of today’s cases were imported, while the remaining stemmed from local transmission.
Active cases also continued to be on an upward trend, rising to 41,582 from yesterday’s 40,101.
On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 3,347 people have been discharged, taking the cumulative total of recoveries to 414,707. – May 13, 2021.
