THE online server for Craftora.com, a digital cartoon exhibition on human rights has come under attack by hackers for the past two hours, said Malaysian cartoonist Zulkifli Anwar Ulhaque.
Zulkifli, more popularly known as Zunar, said there have been more than 100 attempts by hackers.
“We discovered more than a hundred attempts to hack the website and it came from more than 50 different IPs. But so far, no damage to the website,” he said in a statement.
Zunar said the attack took place during a live forum titled “Cartoonist - Enemy of the State” which featured him, a cartoonist from the Philippines and Indonesia.
The exhibition, themed “Human Rights in My Country”, features 74 hard-hitting cartoons illustrated by 37 cartoonists from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar runs from May 3 till May 30.
Yesterday, Zunar was questioned by police for two hours today over a cartoon he drew in relation to the Kedah government’s decision to cancel a holiday to mark Thaipusam.
He also had his phone confiscated for the fifth time.
“They took my phone to carry out forensic analysis on my activities on the internet with regard to the cartoon I drew,” he said. – May 8, 2021.
