2,881 new Covid cases, Selangor still top contributor

A TOTAL of 2,881 new Covid-19 cases were reported in the past 24 hours, with Selangor recording the highest number of cases again, this time at 759. 

The Health Ministry said Sarawak recorded 445 new cases, followed by Kelantan (442), Kuala Lumpur (315), Johor (310), Penang (133), Kedah (111), Negri Sembilan (89), Sabah (64), Perak (64), Malacca (54), Pahang (47), Terengganu (42), Labuan (3) and Putrajaya (3). 

Perlis reported no new cases.

The cases today bring the nation’s caseload to 411,594.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 2,462 patients were deemed to have recovered today, to make 380,442 recoveries in total.

 Active cases rose to 29,631 from 29,227 yesterday. 

Sixteen of today’s new cases were imported, he said.

Fifteen people died from the virus, raising the death toll to 1,521.

There were 337 patients in intensive care, 176 of them requiring respiratory support. – May 1, 2021.
