UMNO veteran Shahrir Samad says it is unlikely the current government will investigate political frogs, as suggested by outgoing Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador, because it was made up of those who had jumped ship.

In a Facebook post, Shahrir said it is unlikely the Perikatan Nasional government is going to investigate “political frogs” because “it is a government made up of frogs” or defections.

“MACC wants to investigate? Ha. Ha.” he said in the post.

The former MP reinforced his opinion that the government of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will remain silent, referring to Dewan Rakyat deputy speaker Azalina Othman Said questioning the government’s accountability during the emergency period just a few days ago.

Meanwhile yesterday, Hamid said the MACC should investigate recent cases of political corruption, as politicians were “jumping here and there” rampantly.

He said corruption had to be involved when politicians were switching parties freely, and added that it was becoming more prevalent because some politicians were “power crazy”.

In his last press conference in Bukit Aman, Hamid said he had told MACC “they should step in and take action”.

“It’s sickening. Malaysians are fed up seeing frogs (politicians) jumping all over. What is that? What is the cause of it? It is corruption.

Left unchecked, he said, political corruption would create the impression that Malaysia had no laws.

Recently, Julau MP Larry Sng, Tebrau MP Steven Choong and Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar quit PKR to align themselves with Muhyiddin’s government.

Meawhile, Umno member Mohd Puad Zarkashi said a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) should be established to look into the IGP’s revelation that the home minister was interfering in police matters.

The Umno supreme councilor said Hamid accusation that the police force commission (SPP) has been tainted by political elements tarnishes the credibility of the force.

“So, an RCI needs to be set up to investigate the matter,” Puad said in a statement last night. – May 1, 2021.

  • Indeed so. The PN regime will collapse as they are mostly a collection of frogs from other parties from where they were voted in.
