More than 3,000 Covid-19 cases logged for second day running

MALAYSIA reported over 3,000 new Covid-19 cases for the second consecutive day today, with Selangor once again topping the daily state tally.

Health authorities detected 3,332 infections in the past 24 hours.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have now taken the country’s caseload to 404,925.

Selangor leads with 1,083 cases, followed by Sarawak and Kelantan with 522 and 401 cases respectively.

Active cases continued on an uptrend, climbing to 28,093 from yesterday’s 26,719.

Only nine of today’s new cases were imported, while the rest were local transmissions.

On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 1,943 people have recovered from the coronavirus, taking the cumulative total of recoveries to 375,340.

The country also reported 15 fatalities, raising the death toll to 1,492.

Meanwhile, 309 patients are currently being treated in intensive care units at hospitals, of whom 147 require respiratory support. – April 29, 2021.
