MALAYSIA reported more than 3,000 Covid-19 cases today for the first time since February 24, as the national caseload exceeded 400,000.
The country registered 3,142 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases take the country’s caseload to 401,593.
Selangor topped the daily tally with 1,019 cases, followed by Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur with 523 and 440 cases respectively.
Active cases continued on an uptrend, rising to 26,719 from yesterday’s 25,414.
Only 13 of today’s cases were imported while the rest are local transmissions.
On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 1,822 people had recovered from the coronavirus, taking the cumulative total of recoveries to 373,397.
The country also reported 15 fatalities, raising the death toll to 1,477.
Meanwhile, 306 patients are currently being treated at intensive care units, of whom 151 require respiratory support. – April 28, 2021.
