VACCINATION for the media will begin in May, said Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

“Health Minister Dr Adham Baba and I are pleased to inform that we will start the vaccination for media personnel in May,” Khairy, who is also co-ordinating minister for the national Covid-19 immunisation programme, said at a weekly press conference on the national vaccination drive today.

According to the minister, the government has taken note of the calls by the National Union of Journalists Malaysia and other press groups, which had previously urged the government to consider prioritising the media for vaccination due to the nature of the job.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) has also submitted an application for the media to be given priority in the second phase of the nationwide vaccination drive.

Minister Saifuddin Abdullah said he had deferred his own vaccination because he wanted to be vaccinated together with members of the media. – April 28, 2021.
