MALAYSIA reported 2,717 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, with Selangor once again topping the daily tally with 768 new infections.
Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases have taken the country’s caseload to 390,252.
Selangor’s cases are followed by Sarawak and Kelantan, with 570 and 518 cases respectively.
Of today’s total, only 26 cases were imported while the remaining stemmed from local transmissions.
Active cases are still on an uptrend, rising to 22,926 from yesterday’s 22,512.
Of active cases, 272 patients are currently being treated at Intensive Care Units at hospitals, with 124 on respiratory support.
On recoveries, Noor Hisham said 2,292 people had recovered from the coronavirus, taking the cumulative total of recoveries to 365,900.
The country also reported 11 fatalities, which raised the death toll to 1,426. – April 24, 2021.
