INTERSTATE travel remains prohibited as part of the government’s efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that from December 20 to April 20, the Health Ministry has recorded 38 interstate clusters, accounting for 5,471 cases.
“In this month (April) alone, seven interstate clusters with 423 cases were recorded.
“The Health Ministry has also recorded the largest cluster, the Pasai cluster, with 2,693 cases spread across several areas in Sarawak,” he said during a press conference in Putrajaya today.
He said the interstate clusters not only resulted in the spread of Covid-19 in green zone areas, but activities such as returning to hometowns, attending social gatherings also increased the risk of infections to vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children.
He said that since December 7 in Kelantan, a total of 10 interstate clusters have been recorded.
“These clusters partially still exist to this day and has infected several generations.
“That, why I often emphasise when the government gives flexibility in terms of opening economic sectors as well as social activities, the level of compliance for SOP must be followed.” – April 23, 2021.
