THE Health Ministry today reported eight new Covid-19 clusters, including three linked to education institutes.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also declared the end of another seven clusters.
With this, he said the number of active clusters in the country now stood at 347.
He said two of the education clusters were discovered at institutions in Sarawak.
Noor Hisham said the Ulu Balingan cluster in Selangau reported 101 cases, while the Jalan Disa cluster in Sibu registered 20 cases.
He said the Jalan Maktab cluster, which saw nine infections, was the third education cluster reported today.
He said the cluster saw cases in the Sepang and Hulu Langat districts in Selangor, as well as in Putrajaya.
Apart from that, the ministry also reported one cluster that stemmed from community transmission.
Noor Hisham said the cluster, known as Seri Kuantan, reported 18 cases, spreading across state lines in Kuantan, Pahang and Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.
He said the remaining three clusters were linked to workplaces, such as a public institutions and service centre.
He said Sabah reported two workplace clusters while Sarawak and Johor reported one each.
Noor Hisham also added that the Pulau Pisang, Bukit Marak, Dagang Permai, Perusahaan Jalan Bukit, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Jalan Rawang, and Teratai clusters have now ended. – April 17, 2021.
