EMBATTLED Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin has again been given the assurance by Sarawak’s four-party ruling coalition Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) that he still has their support to be the prime minister.
GPS chairman and Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg said political stability is key to the country’s economic recovery and post-pandemic future.
“GPS supports (you) to be the prime minister to stabilise the country.
“If we have political stability, this will attract foreign investments,” he told Muhyiddin at the special meeting with federal and state civil servants in Kuching today.
The stability, Abang Johari added, bodes well for the development of the country.
Muhyiddin, in his address later, said he was surprised by the show of support.
He said it was unexpected.
The prime minister and his government are standing on shaky ground after its key Perikatan Nasional coalition partner Umno at the weekend had announced they are ending their political ties with Muhyiddin’s Bersatu at the next general election. – April 1, 2021.
