POLICE recorded the statement of former Felda chairman Isa Samad this morning over a transfer of prime land in Kuala Lumpur that was carried out under “suspicious” circumstances.
Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said several other individuals linked to the deal would be called soon to give their statements. But he refused to reveal the identities of these persons of interest.
“I think the statement (of Isa) was recorded at 10am in Bukit Aman.
“There are other people who are relevant (to the investigation). I don’t have to reveal them. But we will arrange to summon the next person soon.
“We will try to finish recording the statements of all the people linked to this case. There are a few more,” he said at the Home Ministry in Putrajaya today.
Fuzi had previously said police had identified several people who were linked to the latest Felda land scandal, and expected investigations to take some time because of the complexity of the transaction.
The transfer of the RM270 million piece of land at Jalan Semarak, Kuala Lumpur, to Synergy Promenade Sdn Bhd was carried out during Isa’s tenure as Felda chairman, from 2011 to January last year, Berita Harian had reported.
Sources said the company, appointed by Felda Investment Corporation Sdn Bhd (FIC) on June 3, 2014, was given full power of attorney to develop the land.
The development, however, was only revealed to the Felda board of directors three months later on September 2 for backdated approval.
The company then sold the land to itself for RM270 million and Felda did not receive a sen.
The land had been earmarked for the Kuala Lumpur Vertical City (KLVC) development project, which will feature seven towers, including Felda’s iconic development, Menara Felda. – January 4, 2017.
