1,327 new Covid-19 cases, 4 deaths

The Health Ministry reports of 1,327 new Covid-19 cases and 1,247 recoveries in the past 24 hours. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Najjua Zulkefli, March 21, 2021.

MALAYSIA recorded 1,327 new Covid-19 infections and four deaths in the last 24 hours, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The health director-general said there were 1,247 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 317,289. 

The total number of infections now stands at 332,040 with 14,518 active cases.

Noor Hisham said to date there are 154 cases being treated at the intensive care unit (ICU), of which 65 cases require respiratory assistance.

The Health Ministry also reported four deaths, bringing the fatalities up to 1,233 cases. 

Noor Hisham added that Selangor continues to report the highest number of cases in the country with 356 new infections.

This was followed by Penang at 205 cases, Johor (141), Kuala Lumpur (115), Perak (55), Sabah (50), Kelantan (30), Kedah (30), Negri Sembilan (22), Terengganu (18), Pahang (11), Malacca (10), Perlis (five) and Putrajaya (three).

He said Labuan did not record any new cases.

The deaths today involved a Malaysian male from Perak aged 69, who suffered from high blood pressure and lung disease; and a 82-year-old woman from Kuala Lumpur who suffered from heart disease.

The other two are a man from Sarawak aged 66 who suffered from diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease; and a 73-year-old male from Selangor who suffered from  high blood pressure, heart and lung disease.  β€“ March 21, 2021.
