FIVE new Covid-19 clusters – two workplaces and three community-based – were reported today, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said the five clusters were responsible for 113 infections today, and are located in Sarawak, Kelantan and Kuala Lumpur.
Another 55 existing clusters also reported an increase in cases, the highest being the Medan Bayan Lepas cluster (53), followed by Jalan Nusa Mega (28), and Kemuning Enam (28).
The Jalan Kampung Hilir community cluster is in Sibu district, Sarawak.
The index case for this cluster was reported positive on March 12 as a result of symptomatic individual screening. Forty-one people have been screened, of which 35 tested positive.
The Nanga Bulo community cluster is in Julau district, Sarawak.
The index case for this cluster was reported positive on March 9 as a result of symptomatic individual screening. A total of 160 individuals had been screened, of which 34 cases were detected positive.
The Banggol Chica community cluster involves the districts of Pasir Mas, Kota Bharu, and Tumpat in Kelantan.
The index case for this cluster was reported positive on March 13 as a result of ward admission screening. A total of 87 individuals had been screened, of which 17 cases were detected positive.
The Jalan Sanyan workplace cluster involves the district of Sibu in Sarawak.
The index case involves a employees of a supermarket located at Jalan Sanyan, Sibu. A total of 19 individuals had been screened, all of whom tested positive.
The Jalan Taiping workplace cluster involves the districts of Kepong, Cheras, and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur.
This cluster involves employees of a public administration center located near Jalan Taiping, Titiwangsa. A total of 137 individuals had been screened, of which eight were detected positive. – March 16, 2021.
