THE Health Ministry today recorded 13 new clusters with 12 involving workplaces, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The director-general of health said among the clusters, one was related to religious activities in the Kedah districts of Kuala Muda and Kulim.
He said the index case for this cluster was reported positive on March 7, 2021 as a result of symptomatic individual screening.
“The cluster involved individuals who attended a meeting that took place in Jalan Sekerat, Sungai Petani as well as their close contacts.
“A total of 52 individuals had been screened, of which 17 cases were detected positive,” he said in a statement.
The remaining 12 clusters are located in Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sabah, collectively recording 208 positive cases.
In the past 24 hours 56 existing clusters had reported an increase in cases.
Clusters with the highest number of new cases today are Tanjung Suria (29 cases), Ladang Bukit (29 cases) Jalan Mega Lima (22 cases).
Most of the new workplace clusters involved offices, factories, construction sites and a supermarket where targeted screening of workers were carried out.
One workplace cluster, called Batu 19, spans the districts of Kulai and Johor Bahru in Johor.
This cluster involves a public administration centre located at Batu 19, Jalan Air Hitam, Kulai where a total of 57 individuals have been screened. Nine have tested positive.
The Jalan Tanjung workplace cluster involves the Bintulu district in Sarawak.
This cluster involves employees of a supermarket located in Jalan Tanjung, Bintulu, where 127 individuals had been screened, of which 19 cases are positive. – March 15, 2021.
