Recoveries continue to outpace new Covid-19 cases

COVID-19 recoveries continued to outnumber new cases today, while active cases declined to 17,544 from 18,010 yesterday.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today that 2,104 people had recuperated from the coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 300,620.

Meanwhile, 1,647 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, of which only five were imported.

The fresh cases bring the nation’s Covid-19 caseload to 319,364.

By state, Selangor led the daily tally with the most cases at 712, followed by Johor and Penang with 170 and 169 cases, respectively. 

Nine fatalities were also reported, taking the death toll to 1,200.

Meanwhile, 147 people are currently being treated in intensive care, with 61 requiring respiratory support. – March 11, 2021.
