Private GPs to be included in jab drive

PRIVATE general practitioners (GPs) will be roped in to administer vaccines in the second and third phases of the immunisation drive, said Dr Adham Baba. 

The health minister said the government decided to include private GPs in the programme to broaden vaccination coverage for the people.

The Health Ministry has appointed Protect Health Corp Sdn Bhd (ProtectHealth) to facilitate the programme. 

“Private GPs who are interested to assist in the second and third phases of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme will have to register with ProtectHealth from today,” he said in a joint press conference with Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today. 

Those interested in being a part of the programme can submit their applications through ProtectHealth’s website.  

ProtectHealth is a subsidiary of ProtectHealth Malaysia, which is a non-profit organisation under MoH. 

The company will manage registrations, guide and train private GPs, facilitate payments and monitor the progress of the programme. 

The second phase of the national immunisation drive is slated to go on between April and August while the third phase, which will begin in May, will end in February 2022. – March 8, 2021.
