MALAYSIA today recorded 2,253 new Covid-19 infections, the bulk of it in Selangor, which contributed 633 cases.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Perak logged the second most numerous cases with 545, followed by Johor with 276.
He said these brought the national caseload to 295,951, less than 10% of which, or 27,994 cases are classed as active.
There were 2,085 recoveries over a 24-hour period, taking the total recoveries to 266,856.
There are 201 patients in intensive care, 93 of them on respiratory support.
Eleven people died of the virus today, taking the death toll to 1,111.
Four of the deaths were in Selangor, three in Kuala Lumpur, two in Sarawak, and one each in Sabah and Johor.
The youngest of those who died was a 36-year-old foreigner, in Kuala Lumpur. Two Malaysian men, both aged 78, in Johor and Selangor, were the oldest.
