Social gatherings caused two new Covid-19 clusters

TWO out of 13 new Covid-19 clusters reported today involved social gatherings, the Health Ministry said today.

They were discovered in Sabah and Sarawak and are categorised as community transmissions.

In Sarawak, the cluster called Jalan Muhibbah in Betong, has reported 18 infections.

In Sabah, the Taman Mawar cluster in Sandakan has 15 cases.

The other eleven clusters reported today were linked to workplaces, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

This brings the number of active clusters of infection in the country to 509.

Johor contributed to the greatest number of workplace clusters with four.

They are the Digital Lapan Construction Site (133 cases), Jalan Wawasan 16 (7 cases), Jalan Cyber Sembilan (12 cases) and Jalan Tebrau Pandan (18 cases).

Selangor reported three workplace clusters, namely, Jalan Damai (18 cases), Jalan Serendah (30 cases) and Subang Tiga (16 cases)

Kuala Lumpur reported two workplace clusters while Negeri Sembilan and Kedah reported one each.

Nine clusters are also inactive as of today. These are Taman Kesedar, Jalan Manan, Bah Sayap, Dialisis Malim, Kampung Bukit Putera, Bersepadu, Kilang Setapak, and Jalan Canang Emas. – February 23, 2021.
