13 of 14 new clusters linked to workplaces

ALL but one of the 14 new Covid-19 clusters reported today were directly linked to workplaces.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said five clusters have ended, bringing the number of active clusters to 484.

He said the Kampung Teluk cluster, which reported 21 cases, was the only community cluster.

However, he said, the index case of this cluster in Perak was confirmed as positive after a workplace screening exercise.

Dr Noor Hisham said Johor saw the most number of workplace clusters at five, with the Jalan Seelong cluster contributing a whopping 327 cases.

He said the four other clusters in Johor are Jalan Perindustrian Elektronik (25), Jalan Besar Pontian (64), Ladang Pekan (18) and Perindustrian Pelepas (32) clusters. 

He said Perak and Selangor each reported two workplace clusters.

Noor Hisham said the Jalan Jelapang and Perusahan Tiga clusters in Perak reported 21 cases each, while Damar construction site and Taman Industri in Selangor registered 64 and 16 cases respectively.

Noor Hisham said Kuala Lumpur, Malacca, Kedah, Kelantan and Perak reported, one cluster each.

He said these are the Batu 39, Palut, Cergas, Damai construction site, Lingkaran Lintang, Ladang Matamba and Rengit Sentral. – February 12, 2021.
