POLICE shot dead four suspected armed robbers early this morning in Johor, said state police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
According to Ayob, the incident took place at 3.15am on Jalan Pagoh-Parit Sulong when the police stopped the suspects, driving in two vehicles, for acting suspiciously.
“The suspects acted aggressively when approached by officers. They fired a few shots at the police before attempting to escape.
“A scuffle broke out when the police tried to arrest the suspects, who used a parang and a dagger, injuring one police officer,” he told a press conference streamed live on Facebook.
Ayob said his officers opened fire in self-defence, killing all four men. Officers retrieved a revolver with six bullet shells, four live bullets, two parang, a dagger and two cars from the scene.
He added that none of the suspects were carrying any identity documents on them and were believed to be foreigners, estimated age between 23 and 40.
Ayob believes the suspects were behind a number of in robberies in the state, while one of the vehicles was reported missing in Shah Alam recently. – February 12, 2021.
