MALAYSIA today recorded 3,847 new Covid-19 cases and 12 deaths in the past 24 hours, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the number of new infections brings the cumulative number of positive cases to 238,721 while the total number of deaths from Covid-19 now stand at 857.
There are 1,692 patients who recovered in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of recoveries to 186,970.
Active cases, meanwhile, have increased to 50,894 with 305 patients being treated at the intensive care units (ICUs), of which 139 require respiratory assistance.
Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor contributed 1,481 cases, the highest among the states.
Of these, he said 1,117 cases were linked to clusters and detected via close contact screening.
Johor had the second highest number with 585 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 402.
Three people died in Sabah, three in Johor, two in Kuala Lumpur, two in Malacca and one each in Selangor and Kelantan.
Eight of those are Malaysians while the other four are foreigners. β February 6, 2021.
