15 new Covid-19 clusters, 12 workplace-related

Fifteen new Covid-19 clusters have emerged in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active clusters to 434. Twelve are related to the workplace. – The Malaysian Insight by Irwan Majid pic, February 5, 2021.

THE Health Ministry recorded 15 new clusters in the past 24 hours with those relating to workplaces drawing the highest number at 12, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the remaining clusters were two in the community and a third involving high-risk groups.

Noor Hisham said the new clusters are located in Selangor, Johor, Sarawak, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang with a total of 608 positive cases.

Out of the total number of active clusters, which is 434, 88 had reported an increase in cases in the past 24 hours.

The clusters that reported the highest number of new cases are the Jalan Rumbia Dua cluster (133), Sri Sengkang cluster (112) and Industri Serkam cluster (96).

The 12 workplace clusters reported today are:

1. Jalan Mokhtar, in Klang, involving a supermarket on Jalan Raja Mokhtar, Kapar. Currently, 26 people are infected.

2. Jalan Enam Belas, in the Petaling district in Selangor, also involving a supermarket in Section 16, Subang Jaya. The 41 positive cases were detected as a result of targeted screening.

3. Bandar Teknologi, in the Hulu Langat district in Selangor, involving a factory where 30 people are positive as of today.

4. Persiaran Jaya, in Selangor, also involving a factory, located at Persiaran Jaya, Hulu Langat. Currently, 17 people are positive.

5. Jalan Lima, in Sepang and Hulu Langat in Selangor, detected through a targeted screening exercise at a service company located near the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Currently, 24 people are infected, out of 434 screened.

6. Jalan Rumbia Dua, in Johor Baru, involving a factory in Jalan Rumbia, Tanjung Langsat Industrial Area, Pasir Gudang. As of today, 133 people are Covid-19 positive.

7. Sri Sengkang, in the Kulai district in Johor, also at a factory in the Sri Sengkang Industrial Area. Out of 694 individuals who were screened, 126 are positive.

8. Jalan Heng, in the Bintulu district in Sarawak that involves employees from two companies. As of today, 19 people are infected.

9. Jalan Valdor, in Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang, where a targeted screening exercise at a construction site on Jalan Perusahaan Valdor, Valdor Industrial Estate, Simpang Ampat, has found 54 positive cases to date.  

10. Industri TTJ, which is a workplace cluster spread across the districts of Seremban, Tampin, Port Dickson, and Rembau in Negri Sembilan. It involves factory workers in the Tuanku Jaafar Industrial Area, in Seremban, and began with the index case testing positive as far back as January 12. To date, 61 people are infected.

11. Santong Paka, spread across Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu, as well as in Kuantan, Pahang. This cluster involves a company located in Jalan Santong, Paka, Dungun, and currently has 26 positive cases.

12. Bentong Sebelas, a workplace cluster in the Industrial Area in Pahang involving factory workers. Seven people are currently positive.

The high-risk cluster reported today is called Jalan Jubilee, in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, and involves a care centre located on the road of the same name. To date, 25 people are positive.

The two community clusters are Taman Murni, in Kuantan, and the Hikmah Muadzam cluster in Rompin, Pahang. The names of these two clusters refer to the locality where the cases are found.

The Taman Murni cluster currently has 13 positive cases and the Hikmah Muadzam cluster has seven cases. β€“ February 5, 2021.
