IKEA Cheras will be closed today for sanitisation after the furniture store’s security guards tested positive for Covid-19.
“The health, safety and overall well-being of our co-workers, customers, partners, and community is our top priority.
“Therefore, we are taking precautionary measures to close our Cheras store on January 25 for sanitisation and full contact tracing in accordance to the Ministry of Health’s standards,” Ikea Malaysia said in a Facebook post.
It added that the cases were detected during a scheduled routine tests at the outlet on Jalan Cochrane.
“Their last working days were January 23 and all security guards are now in self-quarantine until further notice from the authorities,” the company said but did not reveal the number of positive cases detected.
It added that employees who were identified as close contacts have been placed under home quarantine and are undergoing Covid-19 swab tests.
“Customers who have further enquiries or need more information, please call the ministry’s crisis preparedness and response centre’s hotline,” it added.
Ikea Malaysia said it will continue to seek advice from authorities and act according to its guidance.
“We have and will continue to carry out all necessary safety measures including replacement of service partners’ workers, contact tracing, swab tests, quarantine for all close contacts and sanitisation,” it said. – January 25, 2021.
