THE Association of Churches in Sarawak (ACS) is following the Covid-19 situation closely before deciding whether to temporarily suspend church services, said ACS chairman Reverend Simon Poh.
He explained that ACS leaders, as before, are ready to suspend services in their respective churches if the situation deteriorates.
“Currently, we are monitoring the situation, if Kuching is a red zone because of Covid-19, we will announce it (suspension of church activities),” he told Bernama when asked whether the Catholic churches would decide to temporarily suspend its public masses due to the increasing number of cases in Kuching of late.
“It is our social responsibility as Christians in Sarawak to ensure the safety and the common good of all people,” said Poh, who is also the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kuching.
Meanwhile, when delivering the live-streamed Sunday mass today, Poh appealed to Christians for greater vigilance and compliance with standard operating procedure (SOP) in view of the rise in infections. – Bernama, January 10, 2021.
