JOHOR topped other states for the first time in logging new Covid-19 cases, with the Tembok Choh prison cluster contributing more than 300 infections to the count.
The southernmost state accounted for 607 of the 1,870 new cases reported in Malaysia today.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the fresh cases took the caseload to 110,485, of which 22,562 were active.
Selangor came second in the tally with 472 cases, followed by Sabah with 280.
Six patients died, taking the death toll to 463.
Health authorities reported eight new clusters, including Tembok Choh.
Noor Hisham said 745 people were discharged from care in in the past 24 hours.
The total number of recoveries now stood at 87,460, he said in a statement.
He said 131 patients were in intensive care, 62 of them on respiratory support. β December 30, 2020.
