4 new Covid-19 clusters discovered

THE Health Ministry today reported four new Covid-19 clusters, while declaring the end of another six.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said with this the number of active clusters in the country now stands at 206. 

Two of the clusters were detected in Kuala Lumpur, of which one was linked to a construction site in Lembah Pantai. 

The Jalan Tun construction site cluster was discovered after a targeted screening exercise was conducted at the site. The cluster has so far reported 26 positive cases. 

Meanwhile, the Jalan Pandan workplace cluster reported 30 infections.

Cases linked to this cluster were detected in Lembah Pantai, Cheras, Kepong, and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur as well as the Gombak, Petaling, Kuala Selangor and Hulu Langat districts in Selangor.

In addition to that, health authorities also discovered two more clusters in Selangor. 

Kebun Baru in Kuala Langat – also a workplace cluster – reported 95 cases.

The cluster was detected after a screening exercise at the factory.

The Sg Burong cluster of 28 infections was discovered in Kuala Selangor.

The cluster’s index patient was suffering from severe acute respiratory infections. 

Noor Hisham also announced the end of the Kasir, Tomher MC, Utama, Rengas, Mampulut and Haven clusters, following the 28-day surveillance period. – December 24, 2020.
