THE priority list for Covid-19 vaccine administration will be based on risk assessment, said Khairy Jamaluddin.
The science, technology and innovation minister said the assessment has more to do with the risk of being exposed to the coronavirus rather than job titles.
This includes factors such as the likelihood of coming into close contact with positive cases and how often one goes to public spaces, among others.
“I don’t look at you and say you are a politician (so) you should get it first or last,” he said in a press conference today.
“We decide on how likely it is for one to develop Covid-19 and if you are likely to suffer from it… possibly die from it,” he added.
He was responding to queries on whether he will be among the first to be vaccinated.
In addition to front-liners, Khairy said media workers should also be on the priority list.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said yesterday he would be among the first Malaysians to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in a bid to convince the people the inoculations are safe and effective. – December 23, 2020.
