Eight new Covid-19 clusters with 182 cases

EIGHT new Covid-19 clusters were recorded in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of active clusters in the country to 426, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said the new clusters were in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Perak and Pahang, which contributed 182 new infections.

There was an increase in cases for 51 active clusters today.

The highest number of new cases stemmed from the Teratai cluster (143 cases) and Usaha cluster (79 cases) in Selangor, and the Tapak Bina Jalan Stadium cluster in Kuala Lumpur (63 cases).

The Puncak Galaksi cluster involves the districts of Kuala Selangor and Klang.

The index cases for this cluster reported positive for Covid-19 on December 14 through targeted screening in a warehouse.

As of December 16, 541 people have been screened, with 56 positive cases.

The Bukit Punai cluster is in Kota Kinabalu.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 11 through ward admission screening.

As of December 16, 32 people have been screened, with seven positive cases.

The Bina Permai workplace cluster is in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 16 through targeted screening at a construction site.

As of December 16, a total of 1,087 people have been screened, with 48 positive cases. 

The Bina Matabari workplace cluster is in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur. 

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 12 through targeted screening at a construction site.

As of December 16, a total of 778 people have been screened, with 15 positive cases. 

The Bina Laut workplace cluster spans Lembah Pantai, Cheras and Kepong in Kuala Lumpur.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 3 through targeted screening at a construction site.

As of December 16, a total of 542 people have been screened, with eight positive cases. 

The Cahaya Mahsuri cluster spans Johor Baru, Kota Tinggi and Pontian.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 8 through symptomatic individual screening.

As of December 16, a total of 154 people have been screened, with 32 positive cases. 

The Seri Tasik cluster spans Central Perak and Kinta.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 2 through pre-surgical screening.

As of December 16, a total of 27 people have been screened, with seven cases testing positive. 

The Inten cluster is in Kuantan.

The index case for this cluster was reported on December 10 through symptomatic individual screening.

As of December 16, a total of 204 people have been screened, with nine positive cases. – December 16, 2020.
