MORE people can now dine in restaurants provided they follow Covid-19 rules, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the number of to a table will be according to the size of the table.

“This ruling will take effect today.

“If previously there were two people to a table. Now, four people can sit at a table.

“It also open to larger tables that can accommodate up to 10 people, but they must follow social distancing,” he said during a press conference in Putrajaya today.

He also said as of December 7 the government has allowed interstate travel, except for areas under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

“This is not a green light to take things easy because the pandemic has not ended.

“We want the people to be more responsible in following the SOPs as we head towards opening up more sectors as the recovery movement control order is suppose to end on December 31.

“But, no decisions on this matter has been made yet.”

Ismail Sabri said the flexibility given by this government is also because they want to have to balance between health and economy.

“With the interstate travel, it will thus increase the country’s economic activities, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and family enterprises.

“Therefore, we must together be responsible for ensuring a balance between life and livelihood, between public health and economic recovery.” – December 9, 2020
