ONE of two new Covid-19 clusters reported today involves yet another construction site.

Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this is the Aman Lembah cluster, which has 35 infected people to date, with cases spread across the Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa districts in Kuala Lumpur and Klang in Selangor.

There are two index cases for this cluster, both of whom were construction workers at the site located in Titiwangsa.

With the Aman Lembah cluster, there are now seven active construction site clusters.

The other new cluster, Malawati, currently has 14 infections and was discovered in Selangor after the symptomatic index patient tested positive on November 30.

Two other clusters were also declared inactive today, leaving the number of active clusters in the country unchanged at 187.

The clusters that ended are the Kertang and Sembulan clusters, which have completed the 28-day surveillance period without reporting new infections.

Of the active clusters, 51 reported new infections. Of this, the highest number of cases came from the Bakti prison cluster in Negri Sembilan which reported 500 cases.

This was followed by the Batu Tujuh (53 cases) and the Tembok prison (49 cases) clusters. – December 7, 2020.
