THE Health Ministry today reported three new Covid-19 clusters, while declaring the end of another three.
Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today that with this, the number of active clusters in the country remained unchanged at 187.
Health authorities detected 171 positive cases in the Ceram cluster in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan following a workplace screening exercise.
The index patient of the cluster was tested positive on November 30 after experiencing symptoms. Further contact screening at the individual’s workplace led to the discovery of another 170 cases.
Over in Klang, a community screening exercise led to the discovery of the Pulau Berhala cluster of 24 infections.
Noor Hisham said a third cluster was reported in Johor Bahru after the symptomatic index patient was tested positive on December 1. The Jalan Tampoi cluster has, thus far, registered 17 cases.
Noor Hisham also announced the end of three clusters following the 28 days surveillance period. The three clusters were Palma, Merpati and Makekar.
As for active clusters, 49 of these reported new infections. Of this the highest number of cases came from the Ceram cluster.
This was followed by the Jalan Harapan Prison Cluster (141 cases), Cergas (92 cases) and Tembok (92 cases). – December 6, 2020.
