THE removal of PAS veteran Mustafa Ali from the party’s leadership lineup is further confirmation of the party’s decision to break ties with all other opposition parties, said Pokok Sena MP Mahfuz Omar.
Mustafa, also known as Cikgu Pa, is no longer needed for his negotiating skills as PAS is clearly more keen on breaking ties than mending them, said Mahfuz.
“Cikgu Pa is an expert at negotiating. He’s the one who negotiated with PKR leaders, including Azmin Ali, and Bersatu, which was with Tun Dr Mahathir (Mohamad), when they were in discussions to work together.
“But since PAS has broken off ties and taken a hostile stance against them, Cikgu Pa’s services are no longer needed,” the veteran politician told The Malaysian Insight.
PAS officially severed ties with PKR during its recent muktamar, where president Abdul Hadi Awang also slammed the newly formed Bersatu as being directionless, ending hopes of a three-party majority Malay opposition formula to face BN and Umno in GE14.
Mustafa has been a core leader in PAS for more than 40 years, and was also election director. – May 10, 2017.
