ONLY one Covid-19 cluster in Sabah was reported in the past 24 hours for the whole country, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
The Matambai cluster with 24 infections is in Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, he said during his daily press briefing today.
The index patient tested positive for Covid-19 on October 22, after experiencing symptoms, he said, adding that screening of close contacts led to the discovery of 23 other cases.
All cases are currently being treated at the low risk quarantine and treatment centre at Kepayan Women’s Prison and at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Meanwhile, 333 people have been screened as of noon today, of whom 306 were negative. The remaining three people are still waiting for their test results.
Noor Hisham also declared that the Jeram cluster is no longer active, following the end of the 28-day surveillance period.
The cluster, which went on to infect five people was discovered in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, in early October.
The index case was a 31-year-old woman who tested positive on September 29 after receiving treatment at Tunjang Health Clinic
“As of 16 November 2020, a total of 351 people were screened where five tested positive for Covid-19, while 346 were negative. No deaths were reported for this cluster,” he said.
With this, there are now 162 active clusters nationwide. – November 16, 2020.
