New Covid-19 cluster detected in Kuching

SARAWAK reported a new Covid-19 cluster in Kuching city today bringing the number of active clusters in the state to six.

Ten of the 13 new infections detected in the state today were from the new cluster called Abell, the state disaster management committee said in a daily briefing on the epidemic.

The cluster’s 10 cases were mostly confined to one household. The new outbreak is in Pending and Padungan, the old section of the city.

The disaster committee said as of noon today, 14 infections were linked to the index case who was detected on Tuesday. 

Since then, 70 close contacts have been screened, 13 of which have been cleared and 43 are still waiting for their results.

The Wisma Saberkas cluster reported a new and its 42nd case today.

The Health Department has screened 1,245 people close contacts in the cluster, with 1,121 testing negative and 82 still waiting for their results. – November 13, 2020.
