MEDAN 88 a commercial and residential development in Salak Tinggi, Sepang will be placed under enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) from November 12 until 25.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said today that the National Security Council arrived at the decision based on the advice of the Health Ministry.
The EMCO is expected to involve 88 shop lots, 284 premises and 800 residents.
As of November 5, total of 39 positive cases have been reported in the area.
“The EMCO will allow the Health Ministry to conduct targeted screening and restrict movement of individuals to break the chain of Covid-19 infections,” he said in a press conference today.
Ismail also announced that the EMCO at the remand prison and staff quarters in Penang will not be extended further after it ends today.
The EMCO was first enforced on October 15 and was initially scheduled to end on October 28, before it was extended until November 11.
“The Health Ministry’s risk analysis shows Covid-19 is on the decline and under control, as the last positive case was reported on November 5,” he said.
Meanwhile, the government has decided to end the lockdown at the Mutiara Kasih Apartment dan Taman Khazanah Indah in Lahad Datu, Sabah today, earlier than scheduled.
The two areas were placed under EMCO from October 13 to November 23.
However, authorities decided to end it earlier after all 5,189 test samples returned negative as of November 10 and no cases were reported in the last 18 days. – November 11, 2020.
