THE Ministry of Health reported four new Covid-19 new clusters today, bringing the number of active clusters in the country to 151.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that the Softwood Lahad Datu cluster was discovered in Sabah after the index patient started experiencing symptoms.
Screening of close contacts led to the discovery of 13 more cases.
“All positive cases are being treated at the PPR Payang low risk quarantine and treatment centre. Of the 109 people screened, 95 are still awaiting their test results,” he said today.
Noor Hisham said the Teratai cluster, on the other hand, had spread across Klang, Kuala Selangor, Petaling and Hulu Langat.
Like the Softwood cluster, the director-general said the index case of this cluster also tested positive after experiencing symptoms.
“So far, there are 74 positive cases in this cluster, while 17 people’s test results came back negative. Another 10 people are awaiting their results,” he said.
The Damanlela cluster was discovered at a construction site in Kuala Lumpur with cases discovered in Lembah Pantai, Kepong and Titiwangsa.
The index case was a detainee who tested positive on November 6.
He said the authorities discovered 14 more cases through screening of close contacts and all 15 people are currently receiving treatment at Sungai Buloh Hospital.
He said of noon today, 292 people had been screened from the Damanlela cluster, of whom 269 were negative.
The ministry also reported a fourth cluster, known as Mahkota, in which nine people are infected.
Cases linked to this cluster were detected in Hulu Langat, Selangor; Kepong and Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur; Putrajaya; and Sibu, Sarawak.
The cluster was detected through the screening of close contacts of the index case, who was admitted to Sungai Buloh Hospital.
“A total of 56 people were screened, and 28 tested negative. The remaining 19 are still waiting for their results,” he said.
Noor Hisham also announced that the Bah Puchong cluster, which originated from a Sabah returnee, is now inactive.
