A CONDITIONAL movement control order (CMCO) has been reimposed in Kuching starting from Monday until November 22, while a travel ban to the peninsula, Sabah and Labuan is also set to take effect, Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah said this afternoon.
The CMCO will last 14 days, Uggah said in his capacity as chairman of the state disaster management committee.
The order came after Kuching recorded 151 new Covid-19 cases in the past 14 days, including 25 today – the highest daily tally since October 28.
There are also 125 Covid-19 patients in Kuching in isolation at Sarawak General Hospital.
Throughout the CMCO, interstate travel is only allowed with police permit, Uggah said, adding that the details of standard operating procedures (SOPs) on the travel ban will be issued tomorrow.
There is also a travel ban into and out of Kuching starting Monday but inter-district travel in other parts of Sarawak is unaffected.
The 25 cases in Kuching today involved locals aged between 20 and 68, and all were asymptomatic.
The most active cluster is the Greenhill cluster, which contributed nine cases, named after an area in the city with popular night spots and the outbreak came from a party at one of the bistros there.
The fairly recent Wisma Saberkas cluster recorded seven new cases today.
Uggah said the seven, aged between 17 and 65, were also people who had come in contact with positive cases detected earlier.
The other new cases detected are from the Seladah cluster (two), Baki cluster (one), screening at private hospitals (four), pre-surgery screening (one) and mandatory screening for foreigners prior to them returning to their country (one). – November 7, 2020.
