MALAYSIA today reported 1,168 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, as the coronavirus caseload passed 39,000.
Director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a presser today that all new cases were local transmission.
This brings the national toll of infections to 39,357, while active cases stand at 11,666.
Sabah continued to contribute to the bulk of infections with 616 cases. The state also reported three fatalities, bringing the death toll to 282.
This was followed by Klang Valley states with 257 cases and Labuan with 104 cases.
Meanwhile, 229 of today’s cases were attributed to prison and detention centre clusters.
Health authorities also discovered four new clusters of infections.
Meanwhile, 1,029 patients were discharged from the hospital after recovering from the coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
With this, total recoveries now stand at 27,409.
Eighty-seven patients are currently warded in intensive care, with 32 needing respiratory support. – November 7, 2020.
