THERE has yet to be a Covid-19 case with an incubation period of more than 14 days reported in Malaysia, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said there are such isolated cases reported elsewhere in the world, although it was a rare occurrence.

In most cases, the presence of the virus can be detected between the 7th and the 13th day, he said.

Noor Hisham was responding to queries on a woman who was tested positive for Covid-19 on the 18th day since taking the test.

The woman was quarantined in Sarawak after returning from Labuan and had tested negative on the 1st and 10th day.

“We found from our investigation that she had symptoms on the 11th day but she did not inform the authorities or the ministry,” he said in his daily presser today.

“She was released on the 14th day. She went to the clinic on the 18th day and was tested positive,” he added.

Noor Hisham said 75% of the 1,181 cases among overseas returnees tested positive on the first swab test while 25% was confirmed positive on the second swab test on the 13th.

Those who tested positive on the 13th day will be quarantined for another 14 days. – October 31, 2020.
