A TOTAL of 465 people were issued compounds yesterday for failing to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP) to curb the spread of Covid-19, said senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The bulk of offences, 174 cases, involved not wearing a mask in public.
Other offences included failing to adhere to physical distancing, not recording details when entering premises and holding activities in pubs or nightclubs.
Police made a total of 60,089 checks nationwide yesterday, which involved 12,773 officers, Ismail Sabri added.
The police, the Malaysian Border Security Agency (Aksem) and the armed forces also mounted 298 roadblocks nationwide and arrested 12 illegal immigrants, two skippers and two vehicles.
He said the government will take stern action against any party who tries to enter the country illegally and enforcement agencies will continue to tighten the border controls.
Meanwhile, from July 24 until yesterday, 58,365 individuals have returned to Malaysia and were placed in 63 hotels and 18 other premises, including public training institutes and private higher education institutions, nationwide.
“Of the total, 9,960 individuals were undergoing compulsory quarantine while 381 individuals were sent to hospitals for treatment and 48,024 allowed to return home,” he said. – October 31, 2020.
