SEVERAL families were left homeless after strong river current swept and damaged 10 houses in Keningau, Sabah late afternoon today.
Intermittent afternoon rainfall saw three villages, Kg Contoh, Kg Pampang and Limbawan becoming inundated by the flash floods.
Fire and Rescue Department responded to a distress call around 3pm today and said 10 houses were destroyed in Kg Pampang.
Kampung Pampang is adjacent to the Pampang river, in which water rises during heavy rainfall.
No lives were lost in the incident.
The department noted that residents had moved out to the homes of their relatives before their houses were swept away by the strong current.
To date, no reports were received whether any victims had been relocated to any evacuation centres.
Sabah also reported several flash floods in Penampang and in the Papar district.
