Selayang man faces charge of assaulting two policemen


AN unemployed man was charged in Selayang Magistrate’s Court, Kuala Lumpur, today with using criminal force to deter two policemen from discharging their duty at a police lock up two days ago.

Mohd Hazeran Sudin, 35, pleaded not guilty to the charge, read before Magistrate Nik Mohd Fadli Nik Azlan.

Hazeran was alleged to have poked the left eye of one of the policemen involved, Corporal Mohd Khairullizam Atan and Lance Corporal Aron Pungin, at Selayang police station at 11am on October 26, 2020.

The charge, under Section 353 of the Police Code, provides an imprisonment for up to two years or fine, or both, if found guilty.

The court allowed him bail of RM2,000 in one surety and set December 2 for mention.

Hazeran did plead guilty to another charge of committing mischief and causing damage to a Yamaha 135LC motorcycle belonging to a neighbour, Meor Mohamad Nor Affendy Meor Zulkifli, 23, in Pangsapuri Mutiara Gombak Batu 7 at 7am October 25, 2020.

The court set the same date for sentencing and allowed him bail of RM3,500 in one surety. – Bernama, October 28, 2020.
