PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali seemed non-committal on meeting PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to reconcile their paties’ differences.

“I am open to any meetings and I would meet all leaders,” said Azmin when asked if he would meet Hadi.

But when asked if he would initiate it, Azmin said: “If it is good for the opposition”.

The Selangor Menteri Besar said it has been the role of PKR to galvanise strength and the party would continue to do so.

“We must have humility to sit down and discuss. There are differences, yes, but I think it can be resolved through consultation, discussions and consensus that will be achieved in the meeting.

“I believe the top leadership of PAS will make the best decision to save the country and Malaysia’s economy. That should be the basis of any decision for PKR or Pakatan Harapan or any political party outside BN,” Azmin said in Shah Alam today.

PAS recently passed a motion to cut ties with PKR at the party’s annual congress in Alor Setar. The final decision on the motion must be endorsed by the party’s Shura Council.

But PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said both parties have always been on good terms.

Wan Azizah said PKR would wait for PAS Syura Council’s final decision before commenting further, adding that she was optimistic as the two parties were fighting for a common cause. – May 9, 2017.
