DISSOLVING Parliament was not part of the discussion in this morning’s cabinet meeting, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
“There was a cabinet meeting earlier. The issue of dissolving Parliament was not discussed in the cabinet (meeting) today,” the senior minister told his Covid-19 security press conference today.
He said this while addressing queries on screenshots that had gone viral of him and his cabinet collegues in conversation, purportedly on the dissolution of Parliament.
“Although I am not supposed to say this, but to address the matter, it was neither raised nor was it discussed,” he added.
He said fake information is being circulated to misinform the public.
“We should filter information and not just buy into it,” he added.
Today’s cabinet meeting was called to discuss developments in the past 24 hours, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s rejection of the government’s proposal to implement emergency rule to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had called the special meeting to discuss the royal decree, which held there was no need to impose a state of emergency anywhere in the country in its fight against the deadly infection.
The king had said that the government was doing a good job handling the Covid-19 crisis and urged politicians to stop all politicking disrupting the stability of the ruling government.
Parliament is set to commence its third session of this year on November 2, in which Budget 2021 is expected to be tabled on November 6. – October 26, 2020.
